Here is a roundup of football from Newton Aycliffe Junior Section.
The rain once again played havoc with the fixtures, below are the games that survived the weather.
Under 7’s travelled to Hurworth for a reversed home fixture. Aycliffe played some good football, and all the players gave 100 percent effort. It was a game full of goals, against a good Hurworth side, with Aycliffe’s goals coming from Alfie, Lewis, Harry and Joey.
Under 8’s Juniors travelled to Kader, playing some fantastic football throughout in what was the best team performance of the season. The goals were scored by Felix K (2), Reign, Zach and Reuben (2). Both goalkeepers that played, Luke and Joey, were rewarded with clean sheets. MOTM went to Felix K for brilliant decision making and work rate.
Under 8’s Whites played Consett Magpies, with six players available, Aycliffe could not get the result they wanted, despite having numerous chances. Goals were scored by Oscar and James who helped himself to a brace. The opposition selected James as POTM and the parents POTM was awarded to Oscar.
Under 15’s Blacks played Prudhoe Cobras in the second round of the RFYL Cup. Aycliffe started strong and the opening minutes of the game saw a goal from Jayden disallowed. Undeterred, Aycliffe continued with some excellent football, and we saw a superb hat-trick from Isaac giving Aycliffe a 3-0 lead at the break. In the second half, Aycliffe continued with a great mindset and played some fantastic football, two goals from Jayden saw Aycliffe take a 5-0 lead before a bit Prudhoe pulled one back. Aycliffe picked the pace back up with some excellent performances from the whole team, and eventually scored another two goals from Jayden, taking his tally to four goals and the full-time score to 7-1. An outstanding performance from the whole team, with every player on the pitch deserving to be proud of themselves against a strong opposition. MOTM was Fynley.
Under 15’s Whites travelled to Eaglescliffe to face top of the division and unbeaten Eaglescliffe Elementis Blues. Unphased by this, Aycliffe took the game to Eaglescliffe and after 10 minutes a free kick from Joshua hit the post, rolling across the line for Tom to tap in. Looking comfortable, Aycliffe continued to hold Eaglescliffe at bay, but right on the half time whistle the opposition equalised. With Aycliffe heads down and Eaglescliffe tails up, the hosts took the lead just one minute into the second half. Two more goals gave Eaglescliffe a comfortable three goal lead. Aycliffe kept battling, but, with injuries coming left right and centre, our players were playing in various positions. Aycliffe were given an indirect free kick in the box which Tom squared for Jayden to blast home. Final score was 4-2 to Eaglescliffe but a respectable performance from Aycliffe. Man of the match was Joshua.
