Newton Aycliffe Cricket Club returned to training earlier this month after Covid 19 brought all activities to a halt in March.
Following the strict guidelines from the Government and the England & Wales Cricket Board, Aycliffe were able to open their nets and although training was initially limited to only two players allowed to train together, this has now been extended to six, although strict restrictions on what activities are allowed remain in place.
Players have gradually returned, with regular weekly sessions now being held for the Club Juniors and last week the new Ladies Section held their first training session since lockdown.
With the ECB continually monitoring the situation and providing updated guidance, it is hoped that full teams may soon be able to train together and, as we reach what would have been the half way stage of the season, hopes remain that there may be some competitive cricket at some time this summer, with various scenarios being looked at by the leagues.
