On Tuesday 24th June a number of students completed within a district multi-sports competition at Sedgefield school. The event included a range of different activities. St John’s competed at Under 15 boy’s 7’s rugby, Under 15 girls 7’s rugby, Under 15 girl’s rounders, table-tennis, Under 13 girls football and Under 15 boy’s football.
The students had a fantastic day and performed excellently across all sports. Both the boy’s and girl’s rugby teams won their respective competitions. Most remarkably the girls Under 13 football team won their competition without losing a game or conceding a goal. The boy’s football team were very unlucky and narrowly missed out on first place due to goal difference. The rounders team also came second after an excellent performance. The table-tennis team came a respectable 3rd place.
Well done to all of the students who took part

The year 9 athletics team participated in a District competition on Wednesday 18th of June at Shildon Stadium. This is an annual event which this year included 7 schools. St John’s, Woodham, Wolsingham, Bishop Barrington, Sedgefield, Parkside and Sunnydale.
The students all complete within track and field events gaining points for their team. The students from St John’s had some excellent performances especially within the 4X100 relays. St John’s were extremely successful on the track with standout performances from Findley Crossen in his sprint and James Frankland on the 800m. Ellis Tait ran a fantastic leg on the boy’s relay making up 3 places. Well done to all of the students involved
St John’s Nominated for an Award
This year St John’s has set up a kayaking club with Bishop Auckland Kayak Club. The satellite club is funded through Sport England. It has allowed us to get some equipment and free coaching and has been running every Monday 4-5 after the school club.
This has allowed students to improve their kayaking and all the students involved have made excellent improvements. The club has been nominated by County Durham for a regional and national award. Each county can only nominate one Satellite club so this is excellent for the school. A big thank you to all who have been involved in making this club a success.
Well done to all of the students involved.
