Schools and community groups can book free talks about rubbish and recycling to help them start 2019 with greener habits.
John Shannon, Durham County Council’s strategic waste manager said: “We’re offering free talks and assemblies to encourage groups to make it their New Year’s resolution to do their bit for the environment and find out more about recycling.
“The talks cover everything you could want to know about your rubbish and recycling, as well as including tips on waste prevention, reuse, composting, and our Love Food Hate Waste campaign.
“I’d also like to take this opportunity to say thank you to residents and businesses for recycling in County Durham; this year we recycled and composted over 40 per cent of our waste, which is fantastic.”
In 2018, nearly one hundred talks were given to a range of audiences from nurseries to community groups. The talks last approximately half an hour and can be tailored to meet the needs of individual groups. Evening presentations can also be booked.
