Dear Sir,
As most may know I have been fighting a rare form of Leukaemia since July 2009. I want to take this opportunity to thank the community for all your support over the years.
Unfortunately the chemo-therapy I had made me unwell and I am in pain 24/7 and permantly on crutches.
Over the years many people have come to me explaining they had no support and don’t know who or where to turn and discuss their illness.
On the 6th February at 6pm myself and a few others are starting a support group at Neville Parade Methodist Church for anyone that has cancer or has finished their treatment.
It is also for carers and It will be held monthly with guest speakers who will explain what help is available including welfare rights etc. Macmillan is supporting me and I receive a lot of help, so can refer people to the Macmillan Centres. A person struggling to buy food can also be helped.
I believe there is not enough support for people with cancer because I have been there and people stop me in the street who need help. People think once you finish your treatment you are okay but that is not true and some people just want someone to talk to outside their own family.
Please contact me if you require more detail.
