The starting weekend for the Russel Foster League teams, with the TJFA teams following next weekend, it was debut day for some of our teams
Under 10 Girls
First day of a new season you don’t know the opposition or what to expec, but within the first minute Heidi raced past 2 defenders and calmly slotted for 1-0, and she grabbed a 2nd within 5 mins. Aycliffe were controlling the game as the 10 girl squad was rotated.
Our younger players Fearne, Gracie and Lily slotted in wherever they were asked and did a great job. Then we brought on our youngest player, Imogen, who caused all sorts of problems for Easington as she weaved her way to 2 great goals and 4-0 at half time. The girls were continuously creating chances, Libby pushed forward and was unlucky to see her shot slip past the post . Kiera Eden and Phoebe were solid in defence and quickly prevented any Easington breaks.
Chloe in goal wasn’t really troubled but when called upon she looked secure. A further 2 goals from Heidi 6-0. Everyone now decided to push forward and from a corner an Easington player broke and despite our girls racing to get back she slipped the ball passed Chloe, a lesson learned but the points were secured – FT 6-1
Under 13 Hawks
A great start to the campaign in the Russell Foster league for the U13 Hawks at home to Washington Reds on a wet Saturday morning. The Hawkes were 6-1 up at half time. But a very determined opposition never gave up and brought the game to life fighting back to 6-5 with 10 mins to go.
A nail biting finish but the Hawks held in for a win. They all played their hearts out but Man of the Match went to Evan Bailey-Thompson for a solid performance in defence FT 6-5.
Other results:
Under 17’s Falcons 4 v 6 Peterlee Helford
Under 18’s 1 v 3 Gateshead Redheugh
