Our new Town Mayor, Wendy Hillary, was elected on Wednesday, taking over from her husband Jed. Her family was there to see her installed including 5 day old Grandson.
Jed was thanked for his excellent service to the town during his year of office and presented with a Council plaque. Deputy Leader Malcolm Iveson, in proposing a vote of thanks, said Jed was a fine ambassador for Great Aycliffe who worked tirelessly attending important events.
Jed raised £5,200 for charity which he shared with Newton Aycliffe Youth & Community Centre, Aycliffe Village Hall Association and The Rifles Care for Casualties.
