At the Annual Meeting of the Council on Wednesday, 17th May 2023 Councillor Carl Robinson was duly elected to the appointment of Mayor of Great Aycliffe for the year 2023-2024.
The Chain of Office was handed to Councillor Robinson by the previous Mayor, Councillor Ken Robson.
Councillor Robinson thanked everyone for his election as Mayor and congratulated Councillor Robson on his successful year in office.
Carl Robinson represents the Aycliffe Village ward on the council. He stood for the council as the long-standing representative of the village, Billy Blenkinsopp, was unfortunately, unable to continue.
Carl has been married to wife Carol for 48 years and has one daughter Adele, who is married to David.
Councillor Robinson is now retired, following over 50 years in engineering including 34 years with Darchem Engineering based at Stillington, which involved travelling to many customers in USA, China & Sweden.
Being retired, Carl plays golf 3 times a week at the Oakleaf Golf Club with many friends where he is also on the Golf Club committee.
Councillor Robinsons’ nominated charity for his term of office is ‘All Disabilities Matter’.
