Newton Aycliffe FC have announced that Deano Browne and Danny Mellanby have been appointed joint managers. The appointment was made on Thursday evening at a meeting
of the Club’s Committee. Deano was until recently manager of Norton and Stockton Ancients and works for the Martin Gray Football Academy. Meanwhile Danny returns to the home town club he first played for as a 17 year old.
Chairman Allan Oliver said “It’s been a rough week for us but I’ve been heartened at the positivity shown by Deano and Danny. I think their skills and experience will be just what we need”. Deano said “I am excited at the prospect of taking Aycliffe forward and Danny and I will be building a team for the future”. The new management team’s first game in charge will be the home game against Guisborough Town on Saturday 17 December (kick off 3pm). The last game before Christmas is then a tough home game against champions Shildon who visit Moore Lane on Tuesday 20 December (kick off 7:30pm). Admission is £6 adults / £4 concessions.
The management changes came after the Club dismissed previous manager Peter Dixon following a melee after the game against Morpeth Town in which several players were involved. A number of players have also since left the club & the new management team are bringing in new players to replace them.
