Michael Livingstone-Evans MIH is proud to be appointed the new General Manager of Hall Garth Hotel and Country Club.
He is originally from North Yorkshire and after leaving Scorton Grammar School followed Norman Tebbitt’s famous 1970’s advice and “got on his bike.”
A Swallow Hotel’s management development programme took him first to Scotland then throughout the country in their well-regarded hotels.
A sign of the times was that he was referred to as Mr. from the age of 21 onwards, a fact his parents could never comprehend. This culminated with him becoming Swallow’s youngest GM. He was so young he felt obliged to grow the mandatory moustache to gain credibility.
Hotels have taken him all around the UK and saw him mainly with Swallow & S&N Hotels with whom he racked up 30 years of service.
A career hotelier who has lived in 9 counties he has worked extensively in commercial and leisure businesses. The late 90’s saw a conscious decision to move back north and this appointment confirms his commitment to this part of the world. He is married to a hotel general manager and has two grown children.
North of England Estates have invested heavily in the hotel, and continue to do so, since their takeover of the property in 2013. Under the skilful management of the outgoing GM Pam Mooney, the hotel now sits in a very good position in the marketplace. Michael sees his role of carrying on the good work.
Michael is an avid follower of sport, usually of teams who fail to win! This is in complete contrast to the team he has joined as they are winners.
