Last week The Greenfield Gallery was a hive of activity for a busy morning as the latest exhibition was installed. A group of 8 artists from the ASSIGN group, based in Sunderland, are showing their work in printmaking, as part of a programme of exhibitions showcasing different tech-niques leading to this year’s “Open Art” exhibition.
ASSIGN are a group of artists, formed in 2001, and based in the City of Sunderland. They are a networking and support group, and over the years have developed an exhibiting role, in Sunderland and the North East.
Many of the ASSIGN members have studios in Sunderland, and the local areas, and have obtained BA and MA arts degrees. Many work part or full time outside the art world but all wish to sustain their art practice. ASSIGN assists in this by making opportunities for members to exhibit and sell their work. They also encourage members to initiate projects for the group to develop. Greenfield Arts are pleased to be able to support the group in expanding their reach to Newton Aycliffe and County Durham.
The exhibition focuses specifically on printmaking, showing work created using collagraph, mono print, lino, etching and more. The work will now be on display until Wednesday 28th January, during normal centre opening hours.
