Durham Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) Ron Hogg is delighted to announce that his new Chief of Staff, Alan Reiss, has taken up his role this week.
Alan is a Senior Civil Servant by profession, and comes directly from being Deputy Director of Strategy at the Department for Education in Westminster.
Mr Hogg said: “Alan has a track record of outstanding leadership within a complex and challenging environment. I am confident that he will make an excellent Chief of Staff and look forward to him supporting me in helping to make County Durham and Darlington a safer place to live and work.
“I would like to take the opportunity to thank my previous Chief Executive, Lesley Davies, for her loyal service to my office, to Durham Police Authority before that, to Durham Constabulary and our partners. I wish her well with her retirement.”
Discussing his new appointment, Mr Reiss said: “The new role of Chief of Staff is crucial to enable the PCC to discharge his responsibilities effectively. I am delighted to be offered the opportunity to support him in making a difference to the lives of people in County Durham and Darlington. I look forward to working with partners and members of the community to help the PCC to deliver his priorities.”
As Chief of Staff, Mr Reiss will also perform the statutory functions of Chief Executive and Monitoring Officer of the Office of the PCC
