Do you want support to control your drinking? Would you benefit from talking to likeminded people?
The Pioneering Care Partnership (PCP) together with Durham Alcohol Self Support (DASS) have formed a new group to support people who have problems cutting down or controlling their drink.
Newton Aycliffe Alcohol Self Support (NAASS) meets every week at the Pioneering Care Centre, on Thursday’s from 11am until 1pm. The friendly, informal group is ran by volunteers who’ve all had problems with alcohol in the past.
The group members decide what they would like to do each week, whether that’s a chat over a cuppa or taking part in activities such as cooking, art or physical activities. Members are also invited to events and visits organised through DASS.
NAASS provides support to people through discussion and shared understanding of the issues faced by people who want to reduce their drinking and those in recovery.
The group also aims to help with relapse prevention and offers people the opportunity to access a range of diversionary activities throughout the week by working closely with other local self support groups.
If you would like more information please call Lisa on 07712 323238 for a confidential chat.
NAASS is funded through the Priority Health Fund which is administered by County Durham Community Foundation.
