Hello, the Neighbourhood, Response and Crime teams working out of Newton Aycliffe have been busy responding to a variety of incidents across the area over the past week, including Concerns for Safety, Missing Persons, Shoplifting, Domestic Incidents and Harassment.
Below is a brief overview of what we have been up to.
On Sunday night, an attempted burglary was reported at a premises on the Business Park. Response officers attended and arrested two males. CCTV enquiries were followed up by the Neighbourhood Team the day after, and the two males were charged and appeared at Court on Monday morning.
On Monday, officers from the Neighbourhood Team located and recovered a motorbike which had been reported stolen the night before.
On Tuesday, officers from the Neighbourhood Team attended Walworth Primary School as part of our school carousel sessions. We gave talks on Crime & Consequences, Anti-Social Behaviour, Online Safety and Bullying. Next up, we’ll be at Stephenson Way Primary School.
On Tuesday, a female was arrested on suspicion of drug driving. The female was transported to Darlington custody and was released under investigation whilst blood samples are analysed.
On Wednesday, we received a report of a missing elderly adult who suffers from dementia. Response and Neighbourhood Officers were out looking for the man and he was located fit and well shortly after, and returned home.
Also on Wednesday, PCSO Kipling joined volunteers at Aycliffe Village to conduct Community Speedwatch. Out of 58 vehicles that passed, 7 were going above 30mph.
On Friday morning, officers responded to a report that a 15-year-old boy had gone missing in Newton Aycliffe. Thankfully, the boy was found fit and well shortly after.
Also on Friday, a male youth was issued with a Traffic-183 warning notice for riding an off-road bike in an anti-social manner.
Officers have been out and about over the weekend around the town centre, engaging with local youths and shops in the process.
