Hello to the residents of Newton Aycliffe, PCSO Abi Hill here, with your weekly update.
Firstly, I hope you are all staying safe in these very uncertain times. Please remember to follow the current government rules and guidelines and only leave home for essential purposes, such as work or essential food shopping. On the whole everyone is doing their bit to help stop the spread of the virus, but we have had some individuals who think it’s okay not to follow the rules. When this happens we are engaging and explaining, but will not hesitate to take robust action against those who repeatedly put others at risk. If you have kids, please take some responsibility for their welfare and others they may come into contact with, they should only be leaving home for essential purposes. They should not be mixing in groups and causing Anti-Social Behaviour at any time, but even more so through a lockdown period.
Secondly, have you heard of our online messaging service ‘Keep in the Know’? By signing up to this service, for free, you can find out what’s really happening in your local area – receive regular crime updates, information on road closures and learn about what your local neighbourhood policing team is doing. You can decide what agencies you wish to receive messages from when you sign up to the service. Head over to www.keepintheknow.co.uk and click ‘Sign up’. It won’t take long and you will be kept up to date with many different things.
Finally, do you have an outstanding youth in your local area who deserves to be recognised for their good work in the community? If so please message our Newton Aycliffe Police Facebook page to nominate them. They may receive an ACE certificate where they will be rewarded by McDonalds and be recognised on our Facebook page as a thank you for all their brilliant work.
