Last weekend saw the start of the TJFA season for Newton Aycliffe Youth. With the sun shining, new strips and anticipation from everyone for the season ahead, it proved to be a very good weekend of youth football. Under 13’s Eagles v Trimdon United, the Eagles were looking forward to their first 11 a side competitive fixture. A nervous start saw passes being rushed and the boys giving Trimdon too much space and time. They took the lead after 10 minutes through a quick ball over the top of the defence which was latched onto by their left winger. Trimdon quickly added a second through their centre forward who looked very accomplished. The Eagles then clicked into gear and pushed on. Passes were being made from defence through midfield into dangerous positions in the Trimdon penalty area. Aaron Ross opened the Eagles scoring with a cool finish. Soon after, Kian Cook levelled things up again with a good finish following some bright attacking play. HT 2-2 The second half started with the Eagles playing very attractive football. Joe Halford put them in front for the first time in the game with a rifling shot in off the far post. Mid-way through the half, both teams were pressing. Dylan Bowater hit the bar with a 30 yard shot and Trimdon hit the post from a corner. Trimdon then equalised against the run of play, but the Eagles heads refused to go down and they pressed and pushed on for the winner. The pressure paid off with a cute ball played over the top, Adam Lowe managed to latch onto the ball and coolly lob the ball over the oncoming goalkeeper – unbelievable stuff! 4-3 and a great team performance with man of the match going to Rhys Wilkinson. Under 13’s Falcons started the season with an away trip to Great Ayton. The lads started well and it didn’t take too long before Sam Peat opened the scoring running on to a through pass to lift the ball over the advancing keeper.  Liam soon added a 2nd with a lovely shot from a tight angle curling into the far post 2-0. The lads added further goals with Sam getting another 3 and debutante Lewis Wilson completing the scoring. Great Ayton 1-6 U13 Falcons.  Under 13’s Hawks. Another cracking game on Saturday and on a full size pitch. We were away to NSG United at Washington and one up very early and sat back a little which let NSG play resulting  in a goal for them. But the lads started to play some excellent passing football and it was a joy to watch. Some solid football from our defence and Elliott in goal kept the opposition at bay and frustrated them. Final score 7-1 to the Hawkes 3 goals for Jack and 4 for Dylan. MoM goes to Ben – a fantastic general for the defence and midfield keeping the team together
