In a hard-fought pre-season encounter, Newton Aycliffe Rugby Football Club fell to a determined Jarrovians side 21-41 at home. The match, played under scorching conditions, showcased moments of brilliance from both teams, but ultimately saw the visitors emerge victorious.
The game kicked off with Jarrovians asserting their dominance early, crossing the whitewash within the first five minutes to take a 5-0 lead. NARUFC came out of the break with renewed vigour. James Thacker, sponsored by Tina’s Cosy Cuts, breathed life into the home side’s campaign with a try at the 57-minute mark, converted by the reliable boot of Beaumont. Thacker wasn’t done yet, crossing the line again just seven minutes later. Beaumont maintained his perfect kicking record, bringing the score to a more respectable 21-29
Despite NARUFC’s resurgence, Jarrovians managed to seal the deal with two more tries in the closing stages, ending the match at 21-41.

It provided valuable playing time for new squad members to integrate and develop on-field partnerships. The team’s focus now shifts to intensive training as they prepare for their league opener against Seaham Rugby Club.
NARUFC would like to extend their gratitude to the supporters who turned out in force, their presence adding to the atmosphere of this sun-soaked encounter.
