Monday 26th August
Bishop Auckland 2
v Newton Aycliffe 2

Newton Aycliffe took four points from six over the Bank Holiday weekend. On Saturday Aycliffe recorded an emphatic 4-1 win over Ossett United with a fine team display at Moore Lane. However, it was the visitors who took the lead first in just seven minutes.
Aycliffe came back into the game and earned an equaliser on 38 minutes when an Ethan Wood pass found Cole Kiernan who curled the ball passed the keeper
The second half started slowly but Aycliffe once again took the momentum. The 68th minute saw a Wayne Whitfield shot parried by Hughes, but Dale Elgie was on hand to promptly tap the ball home. Two further goals, from Jake Petitjean in the 82nd minute and Cieran Jackson in the 96th minute gave Aycliffe the points.
With a hectic Bank Holiday schedule Aycliffe made the short trip to Bishop Auckland on Monday. Once again they conceded an early goal but fought back. Just before half-time Liam Adamson’s run on goal was ended when he was brought down by the home keeper. Jake Petitjean slotted home the resulting penalty making it all square at the break.
Aycliffe had some good chances in the second half and it was again Petitjean who found the net heading home a Joe Ferguson cross in the 54th minute.
Bishop equalised with just two minutes remaining and although both sides had further chances the game finished 2-2. Aycliffe’s attention now turns to cup football with a trip to Bamber Bridge on Saturday 31st August in the Emirates FA Cup followed by another away day on Saturday 7th September to Vauxhall Motors in the Isuzu FA Trophy.
