Week ending 18/12/2023.
Under 8’s Reds played their last game of 2023 away to Whinney Banks. It was an experimental line up with Orig and Kian taking turns in goal and Miguel playing outfield. All three players did amazing. MOTM was awarded to Jack who battled bravely and played some amazing football.
Under 8’s Whites played Belmont United Hawks, it was a tough game with only five players available. Oscar scored the goal for Aycliffe and he was awarded opposition POTM. Seb was awarded the Parents POTM.
Under 10’s Blacks after six weeks of no league games, due to the inclement weather, Aycliffe travelled away to face Billingham Synthonia. Billingham scored first with an unfortunate own goal helped by the wind. This spurred Aycliffe on and, after an exquisite pass from Hughie, Jarrod scored. Then some neat build up play between Lucas and Jarrod saw Jarrod slot it home again, before Billingham scored. Alfie S, who deputised in goal, had a phenomenal game and made some outstanding saves. POTM, who was awarded by the opposition manager, was Jack S for his fantastic tackling, tracking back and positional play.
Under 14’s faced Jarrow Sharks in the quarter final of the cup, a team who were in a higher division than Aycliffe. Aycliffe gave it a good go, played some wonderful football at times, scored a wonderful goal with an assist from Huey and a finish from Blake. Aycliffe at times dominated possession and had multiple shots on target but, in the end, Jarrow just had that cutting edge. Blake was awarded MOTM as he consistently chased the ball down, created chances, kept his cool and never gave up.
Under 15’s Blacks had their last game of the year travelling to face Peterlee. On a windy day, the pitch was heavy, Aycliffe dominated from the start but could not take their chances. Peterlee were awarded a penalty, scoring to lead 1-0. In the second half, Aycliffe had a goal disallowed then Peterlee doubled their lead and took the three points. MOTM, awarded by the away coach, was Danny.
