Some of Aycliffe’s young talented musicians and singers featured in a Charity Music Night at the Royal Navy Club this month organised by the town’s Rotary Club.
Among the young singers was Alice Jordan a 14 year old girl who has autism. She was such a joy to listen to and has a lovely personality. Alice was discovered two years ago and has blossomed into a much sought after entertainer.
Her autism made her a target for bullies and she had difficulties as a result. She is still very reserved, but when she sings everyone stops to listen.
The evening was very special featuring young artistes and giving them a stage to express their individual talent.
Rotarian Don Walker, the popular butcher and baker from Simpasturegate supplied hot roast Pork sandwiches with roast potatoes and peas which were delicious and a welcome change from the ususal Pie & Peas supper.
The entertainment was provided by The Creative Dream Works an organisation set up to provide support for disadvantaged young people in the region through creative activities, and SteveMet Management who develop and support talent towards careers in the Music Industry.
Those appearing were Emma Jordan, a 12 year old diagnosed as dyslexic. She is currently working on 20 original songs written by herself.

With the support of TCDW, Alice has appeared at ‘Autism Got Talent’ in London in Association with the Anna Kennedy Online Autism Charity, and has been asked to appear in Manchester and ‘Disability Rocks’ in Leicester this summer.
