Walworth Special School staff work with children supporting each other in times of emotional need. This takes many different forms and the children can exhibit anxiety around many aspects of everyday life.
As part of our Mental Health Awareness Week the school enlisted the support of “Mr Sheep” a lonely black sheep who felt sad and anxious and felt he had no one to talk to. But Mr Sheep soon realised that, by talking to people, he was not alone.
Head Teacher, Peter Wallbanks said: “One of the main themes running through school is that talking to someone helps. It allows everyone to cope with their feelings and makes them feel brighter.
Talking about our mental health is okay and can make us all feel better. The children were enthralled by the messages given by Mr Sheep in supporting their mental health.
As part of the theme the black sheep was covered with colour by the children and he felt happier after visiting them and talking together”.
