Local MP Phil Wilson joined the PCP community garden group on Friday, to lend a hand and do a spot of gardening. During his visit had a look around the garden, seeing what plants are growing, and learning about the group’s plans for the future. Not one to shy away from a spot of gardening, Phil was eager to lend a helping hand, or should I say fork (!) when it came to doing the job of the day, emptying the compost heap. A therapeutic community garden, the PCP garden is a place where people of all ages can work and learn together, while socialising and exercising, and when the weather permits, enjoy the sun!
With organic fruit and vegetables growing on raised beds and in the accessible greenhouse, a horticultural expert is on hand to offer some tips as well as building activities to help improve the health needs of each gardener, and to achieve their personal goals. In addition to growing plants, the PCP garden also sells some, and newly budding gardener Phil was eager to buy some to plant in his garden at home, so he can put his new gardening skills to good use! Commenting on his visit, MP Phil Wilson said; ‘I thoroughly enjoyed my afternoon at the PCP Centre Garden. The group is full of great people, who taught me a thing or two about gardening! I would like to say a big thank you to David, for having me along. This group is a shining example of the many great things the PCP does in this area.’
