Sedgefield MP Phil Wilson has officially opened a new exhibition area at 3M’s Heighington Lane site in Aycliffe.
The Customer Experience exhibition has been designed to show visitors a full range of products from the diversified technology company’s Personal Safety Division.
As well as respirators made at the Aycliffe site, the exhibition includes hearing and eye protection products and protective clothing.
Site manager Shaun Morley said the aim had been to make the permanent exhibition as interactive and hands-on as possible so that visitors could get a real feel for the products and the solutions they provide.
“It’s been created by converting rooms next to the reception foyer and has clear glass doors so that all visitors to the site will see that it’s there,” Shaun explained.
“As well as the products themselves, there are screens showing promotional films and information display boards covering the full Personal Safety Division range.”
During his visit, Mr Wilson was also taken on a tour of the site’s manufacturing area and was updated on new developments in talks with senior management.
