From the 15th June, the Society will extend their opening hours so all 9 branches are open between 9.30am and 2.30pm.
In line with government guidelines various changes have been made within the branches to ensure the safety of the staff and members such as protective screens and hand sanitizer. The number of members allowed inside each branch has also been reduced to ensure social distancing guidelines.
There are currently no face to face meetings, however telephone interviews and postal applications for account openings are all available.
The internet banking service Darlingtonline is also available 24 hours a day for members to view and transact on their accounts.
The society has also implemented a number of initiatives to support members in branch during Covid-19:
• Family members have been authorised to collect cash for members who are isolating
• Penalty fees and notice periods for members who need urgent access to their savings have been waived
• Mortgage members supported with mortgage payment holidays when needed.
In announcing the extension of opening hours Andrew Craddock, Chief Executive of Darlington Building Society said: “At Darlington Building Society our members come first, and we want to ensure the right support is available during any period of personal disruption, ill health or financial difficulty arising from Coronavirus (COVID-19).
“I am pleased that we have been able to safely keep our branches open since lockdown began and feel that it is now the right time to be extending our hours as part of our ongoing commitment to our members.”
