Site investigation work commenced on land at Agnew 5 recently involving a drilling rig and a JCB and other small vehicles. This is not the start of building work (which is scheduled to start this time next year, subject to planning approval) but rather preliminary investigative work to establish the type of ground conditions on the site. This will help to cost and design the sub structure to any housing scheme.
This information was received by resident Christopher Peacock after he made enquiries when he found a bore hole drilling rig five yards from his front room window. The work started on Thursday with a small bore hole then on Friday the larger rig was installed and most of day it pounded away to a depth of 32 feet.
The soil samples were taken away for analyses. Mr. Peacock was not at all happy that this work had commenced without so much as a by your leave or notification that this work was going to start,
He later discovered land between the edge of Woodham Way and the Agnew Community Centre and Woodham Park was always earmarked for housing.
He believes building here would be a great shame as it is home to Deer, Pheasants and a host of other wildlife. It has a large number of established trees and more houses will no doubt end up with a lot more traffic entering Woodham Way causing further gridlock during peak times.
