As a result of the Primary School Coaching Pro-gramme, delivered by coaches from Newton Aycliffe Youth FC, two new teams have been set up covering the under 10 age group (Yr 5/4) and under 11 age group (Yr6). These girls have worked hard during the winter months and were ready for their first competitive games against teams from Bishop Auckland Girls.
Although the experienced opposition were better on the day, it was all about progress for the players of Aycliffe. The coaches also had the opportunity to play the girls in several different positions throughout each of the games.
Girls Head Coach, Berni Borsberry commented “we are very pleased with the progress the girls have made throughout the winter and with a few more friendlies they will be ready to join the league in March” .
