Newton Aycliffe MFC is one of the longest established Model Flying Clubs in County Durham and has been established for over 40 years. The club is currently situated about 1 mile North of Newton Aycliffe on the A167 towards Rushyford and offers good facilities to all flyers. We currently have approximately 70 members but are always ready to welcome more and you do not need any flying experience.
We make a point of welcoming Beginners to this wonderful Hobby and give our time freely for tuition and advice. ARTF (Almost Ready to Fly) Trainers are undoubtedly the best way for the newcomer to go when it comes to learning to fly.
Our club has brought so much pleasure and satisfaction to its members and guests. The club has been a source of learning and self-achievement during its lifetime.
We hold regular competitions and members of all age groups are encouraged to participate with a chance of winning some fantastic prizes.
Sadly, owing to the current economic climate, our landowner finds himself in the difficult position of having to turn our plot back into farming use.
This means we will have to relocate to a new flying field.
We have enjoyed many happy years of flying at our current field but sadly, as we all know, from time to time things do change.
We are looking for a new site hopefully within 10 miles of Newton Aycliffe from which we could re-establish ourselves. Our current field is somewhere in the region of a half an acre and at some distance from a main road with safe parking for our members and guests. If any of your readers have, or know of, a piece of land that might be suitable please email either Kevin on kevin.robertson@live.co.uk or Richard on richard.blakiston@talktalk.net
