During December, the Mobile Rocket team wore their Christmas Jumpers and collectively brought donations for a Newton Aycliffe local foodbank to give a little something back to the community, to help during the tough cost of living crisis.
The team collected urgently needed supplies such as tins of fruit, instant meals and Christmas treats such as Mince Pies and Christmas Puddings, that have gone to those who need extra support at this time of year. Local foodbanks are crucial to help families, and others in need, so we felt like during these tough times, our office Christmas tradition was more essential as ever.
According to The Trussell Trust “Between 1 April 2021 and 31 March 2022, food banks in the Trussell Trust’s UK wide network distributed over 2.1 million emergency food parcels to people in crisis.” This is a huge increase of 14% compared to the same period before the pandemic (2019/20) and many of these parcels went to children.
Mobile Rocket Founder and CEO, Adam Lee, said: “The cost of living crisis is impacting many families who, through no fault of their own, struggle on the run up to Christmas. Now is as crucial as ever to help out anyway we can. So in the run up to Christmas we decided to bring in essentials and festive treats to donate to our local foodbank at Junction 7 in Newton Aycliffe.”
“We hope that our team’s effort provided families with what they need to make Christmas that bit better!”
