3M senior vice-president Chris Holmes congratulates site manager Dave Watson on the completion of the new production line
A multi-million pound investment has been unveiled at the 3M manufacturing plant at Aycliffe to help further boost its sales to the worldwide market.
The new production line allows the plant to increase substantially its capacity to make cartridge filters for its respirators used to protect workers from vapour and dust.
As well as respirators, the diversified technology company’s Heighington Lane site also makes a range of products for the vehicle aftercare market.
Plant manager Dave Watson said: “Aycliffe is a flagship manufacturing site for 3M in the UK and this major investment underlines the confidence shown by the company in our highly skilled workforce.”
The line was officially opened during a visit to the site by 3M senior vice-president Chris Holmes from the company’s headquarters in the U.S.A.
