Dear Sir,
My run had problems before it started and l failed to finish. At around 5.00pm a woman drove into my car the day before the race in Sowerby Bridge, then l realised a bag containing a bum bag, running socks, shorts, drinking bottles and some food were not in my car. So, after dealing with the accident, l turned around and managed to buy some ladies cycling shorts. l then thought ‘l need other things’ also, so got some food and drinks for the race somewhere else.
Things were going well in the 100k Canalathon, but later l had to retire half way through as l was slowing down and the cut off time was close. I just got to the half way point of 50km, with 10 minutes left, after 6 hours 20 minutes.
I feel disappointed, but pleased l at least gave it a shot, after everything. I hope to learn from the experience. But, not many runners will try a 100km (62 mile race) at 54 years old and hopefully my fitness improves to try again.
Despite not finishing, please sponsor me and, whatever you are doing, light is at the end of the tunnel.
