The newly elected Town Mayor for the 2018-2019 year is Councillor John Clark.
He has lived and worked the majority of his life in Newton Aycliffe and represented the Simpasture Ward for the last 5 years on Great Aycliffe Town Council.
John is employed in the Education sector, helping local people enter sustainable work with local businesses to both prosper themselves and the community of Newton Aycliffe.
John told Newton News: “I am honoured to have been elected to serve as the Mayor of Great Aycliffe for the coming year and will endeavour to always promote our great town to the best of my ability and respect and follow the wishes of the people who have voted for me to represent them on the council.”
“My aims are to better the town of Newton Aycliffe for the benefit of its residents and the local area. Thank you all for your faith in me.”
Councillor Clark thanked the Council for his appointment and announced that his nominated charity for his term of office would be the Great Aycliffe Cancer Support Group.
