The Easter holiday programme is going strong with all activities booked up now! We have lots of great sessions on offer for young people and families, including some new additions: ‘Film Club’ and ‘Star of the Show’.
There is the well-loved ‘Family Cooking’ with Jan Hodgson; as well as our ‘Crazy Crafts’ workshop making mosaics to take home, with artist Anna Harding.
Our first art workshop ‘Exploring the Web’, has had the young people looking at how we can all help to keep each other safe online. They have created some wonderful badges and banners, with artist Vicky Holbrough, to promote safety online and you can come and collect your own badge here in the Arts Centre. Please help to promote their brilliant work by sharing this story and seeing their work on display in the centre.
‘Film Club’ and ‘Star of the Show’ have also been a great success. Everyone had a lovely time in our chill out zone watching quirky film ‘Napoleon Dynamite’, about a boy who just doesn’t fit in until he decides to triumph over adversity. This was the basis for our film in a day. Film maker and writer Laura Degnan worked with the young people to choose specific scenes from the film to recreate with their own acting and creative direction, each taking on a role as a real crew member.
Still to come next week is ‘Family Cooking’, don’t forget your Tupperware for all those wonderful recipes, and ‘Crazy Crafts’, making decorative mosaics which can be used indoors and outside.
