Dear Sir,
Could I, through your magazine, express my sincere thanks to Marcia and Phil Atkinson for their kind invitation to their firms open day. BTS Facades & Fabrications are now an established part of our wonderful business park family.
From humble beginnings, this family firm has grown to be a modern, futuristic business which supplies cladding for buildings such as tower blocks. From the start of our visit the Mayoress and myself were impressed by the fantastic modern style of the building and the more we heard about the hard work and dedication, which Marcia and Phil enthusiastically showed, the more we were impressed.
It makes me incredibly proud to visit the businesses on our park, but even prouder to meet the people behind the future of Newton Aycliffe.
The future looks bright for Newtonians.
Cllr Ken Robson, Mayor of Great Aycliffe.
Mayor’s Year So Far
It has been a fantastic privilege to be elected Mayor of Great Aycliffe by my peers on the council. The past two months have been a whirlwind of events, presentations and talks, there have been many highs and no lows. Meeting residents in our town centre, in shops and businesses, has been a great pleasure and experience.
As part of my role, it is incumbent upon the holder to support local charities / groups and I have chosen Together 21 and the Wishing Well Club, to support with my fundraising activities. Our ‘Mayoress at Home’ event raised £400 through a raffle, courtesy of the generous donations of Newtonians and the Newton Aycliffe business community. The Mayoress and I have enthusiastically visited local shops asking for donations of prizes for our tombola and raffles. Our businesses have not let us down, they have big hearts and, from shops, garages, leisure venues and food establishments, we have received prizes of vouchers, alcohol, soft toys and other valuable items to be used in our many events throughout our Mayoral year.
Great Aycliffe Town Council would like to work with local businesses to make our town even greater and, to that end, I am happy to visit and chat with businesses of all sizes to offer my support. As a town we are privileged to welcome a myriad of large successful companies to our business park including, but not exclusively, Gestamp, Hitachi, 3M, Husqvarna, Roman, EBAC, BTS, Ineos and many many more, including many family owned firms who, through hard work and determination, are destined to become the large employers of the future.
It would be remiss of me not to mention those businesses who are making Newton Aycliffe a destination for leisure and pleasure including ROF59, Planet Leisure, Ruff & Tumble, The Fish Tank and three popular golf courses.
