NETOA have been awarded a £1500 Special Grant from by Durham Benevolence Ltd. towards improvements of the closed TV system at the New Victoria Centre, Howden-LeWear, Crook. The Durham Benevolence Ltd. grant was presented at the John Mann Mighty Wurlitzer Concert at NVC on Sunday 9th April by Mr Sam Hunter representing the Durham Benevolence Ltd. (the Benevolence Committee of the Masonic Province of Durham). The grant was received by John Heslop NETOA Chairman who said “I am very pleased to receive the grant which will be a great help”.

He explained that the Mighty Wurlitzer is the one musical instrument where the player sits with their back to the audience and last year a closed-circuit TV system was installed to enable the audience to see organists at our ‘Mighty’ Wurlitzer pipe organ more closely. Several cameras allow the players to be seen from different angles and even some of the moving parts inside the organ will be seen in action for the first time.  A new studio quality switching console will control the cameras and feed the signals to several projectors and TV screens in different parts of the building.” www.netoa.org.uk for full Mighty Wurlitzer concerts and events
