Sedgefield Water Polo Club entered the Man Up Festival on August 3rd at Manchester Media City Salford Quays where some of the best teams, Olympians and players in the country competed against each other in a thrilling competition.
Sedgefield entered a young men’s team who played absolutely brilliantly against such an experienced field of teams.
Finishing top of their group, they made it through to the semi finals which they won 6-4 against a combined Lancaster/Bridgefield team, placing Sedgefield into the final match against Castleford whom they had already beaten earlier in the group stages. Unfortunately, Castleford played an excellent final match and won 9 -4 which gave Sedgefield a very respectable and well deserved second place overall.
A great day was had by all, especially in between games when players decided to impress the crowd with a silly diving exhibition off the jetty into a freezing cold quay entertaining spectators and occasionally causing views to be taken away from games in play at the time.
Well done to the whole team for the brilliant performance; the club is very proud of you all.
A massive thank you also goes out to GAMP and all who have sponsored and supported Sedgefield Water Polo Club over the years to help make our small club so successful.
