Storm Ali hit Aycliffe last Wednesday causing a massive amount of tree damage within the parish. Great Aycliffe Town Council were reacting to all reports of tree damage as they were reported to the Council; making safe as many trees as they could in public areas, regardless of location.
During the storm a significant number of old or land mark trees were damaged and needed to be made safe, if the tree was beyond recovery the trees were felled in various locations. This was the case in West Park where two mature willow trees had the top branches ripped out and needed to be made safe.
