Dear Sir,
Phil Wilson MP’s position on Brexit is to continue the uncertainty and ongoing frustration. He says he wants to move on but then discusses why we can’t and why he wants another vote, presumably in the hope of overturning the original one. I personally voted Remain but I believe very strongly that not delivering Brexit is an affront to our democracy and that it now requires delivery.
We were all told this was a one off vote and everyone voted accordingly. It is beyond patronising for the Remainers to say that the Leavers didn’t know what they were doing and need to be better informed.
Brexit needs to be delivered and it is only the Conservatives that will do that. We have a plan to deliver Brexit and, as importantly, a plan for what happens afterwards.
Unfortunately Labour continue to sit on the fence looking for a politically opportunistic wind to attach themselves to and given Phil Wilson has been so openly critical of Labour leadership and a reselection contest has now been triggered for Dame Margaret Hodge MP, I wonder whether he will be next and therefore not even be standing in the next election, maybe that’s the real reason he is voting against one!
The Liberal Democrat’s have at least been clear in their position, but to cancel Brexit and completely ignore the 2016 vote is incomprehensible. Does Michael Stead support that position? Whilst the Brexit party would claim to deliver Brexit it is extraordinarily unlikely they would be able to deliver enough MP’s to enable that, which just reaffirms that the only way to deliver the democratic Brexit vote is through the Conservative Party.
