The theme of this week’s show is making a difference, and our two guests this week certainly go the extra mile to make a difference and impact on people’s lives in a positive way.
Local council officer Lee Williams regularly raises money for various charities by cycling around our region. He admitted he does it for his own health and wellbeing, but uses his passion for cycling to raise awareness and much needed funds for many worthwhile causes. Lee’s most recent good cause is Combat Stress which offers unique and specialist services to veterans with complex physical, mental and emotional health conditions.
We also had Mark Solan in the studio with us. Mark is the founder and CEO of the Team Solan Connor Fawcett Cancer Trust and he was our guest back in June, he agreed to join us again to bring us up to date with the trust’s continued growth, the increased demands on the organisation by their service users, and recent developments with sponsorship and volunteers joining the team.
Mark also took the time to share with us a bit of personal news in that he now has official confirmation of his ADHD with some OCD thrown in for good measure. When we asked Mark how he felt about the diagnosis, he said “It’s who I am, a part of my personality, and anyone who knows me didn’t need to be told I have ADHD, but it’s nice to get official confirmation”.
