In last week’s issue we shared how pupils at Horndale County Infant and Nursery School have been busy designing their own brand new sports kit.
Councillors Mike Dixon, Joan Gray and John Clare have funded a brand new the sports kit for Horndale County Infant & Nursery School and the councillors were ‘delighted’ to form the judging panel along with with Great Aycliffe and Middridge Partnership – GAMP coordinator Brian Riley and the school’s Vice –Chair of Governors, Carol Hardy, to choose a shortlist of 5 finalists.
This week we are pleased to announce the winner is Macey McLean aged 5. Her creative multi-coloured design has been sent to the designers and printers at BlueMoon Sports and will be ready to wear to upcoming competitions soon!
Macey was chosen by her fellow pupils in a vote as the school promotes the British value of Democracy.
Headteacher Craig Brown said: “These are purpose made one of a kind sports kits with an original and eye-catching design. No-one else in the world will have anything like it. Everyone loved the design because of the bright colours, it’s very catching and stands out and will allow us to show great pride in our area of Horndale and in our school.”
Cllr Clare said: “The winning design was actually my favourite! Macie was very proud that the sports teams would be wearing the strip she had designed for years to come. I liked the design because it speaks of inclusivity, and because it will certainly cut a dash on the sports field. It is a strip of which the children and parents will be able to be proud – “Our team – our community”.
