Last week, Cadets and Adult Volunteers from across County Durham were invited to the Lord Lieutenant’s Awards Ceremony in Bishop Auckland. Mrs Sally Lakey, Chair of 1407 (Newton Aycliffe) Squadron ATC Civilian Committee was awarded the Lord Lieutenant’s Certificate of Meritorious Service for her services to the Squadron and to Durham/Northumberland Wing.
Mrs Lakey has been with 1407 for 14 years and has been chairperson since 2012. Along with the other committee members Mrs Lakey raises funds for cadet activities and supports the squadrons uniformed staff in running the unit.
