I’m trying to find out more about my Great Aunt born KATE ANNIE CLARK on 28th May 1896 in Seaham Harbour, she lived In Dawdon and attended Bedes School. Kate went to Sommerville College, Oxford to study between 1915 and 1920, leaving with a degree with honours. I can find no trace for her until she reappears after having changed her name to CATHERINE ANNETTE ESTELLA CLARK and is living with her mother Kate Helen Clark at Cross House, Holwick, Middleton-in-Teesdale.
Kate Helen died 26th January 1949 and Catherine/Kate Annie was in attendance. I lost her again for a few years, then she reappears at Shafto House, Newton Aycliffe where she died on 6th January 1973. I have since found her grave at Stephenson Way Cemetery in Newton Aycliffe. It appears that Catherine/ Kate died 3 weeks before her brother (My Grandfather) Robert Harper Clark and as my Father Robert Harper Clark Jnr., died in 1974, information on her has been hard to find.
If anyone can enlighten me on the lost years, her occupation, or indeed if anyone cared for her I would be really grateful for any information. I do appreciate that with the passage of time it may be hard to come by and I know I’ll be extremely lucky to find anything at all, but fingers crossed. Please contact me on fl01@live.co.uk
