Dear Sir
In August 2013 my Grandson was a patient in the Darlington Memorial Hospital for a Major operation, which was a worrying time for all the family as he was only 5 yrs of age.
Because of the help and specialised care given to him, the operation was a complete success! I wanted to give something back, so I approached the staff of Ward 21 to see if I could raise some funds for things they feel they needed to help the many children and parents going through similar situations.
I discovered they would really appreciate things such as “cot mobiles” and “extra sensory equipment” for the smaller children.
I started raising funds last year just by doing coffee mornings, and asking my guests to make a small donation for their coffee/refreshments, then did a small Xmas Fayre at Middridge Hall in early December. Along with this, I started writing out to businesses, hotels etc for prizes. People have been very kind especially Redworth Hall Hotel, who has donated some fantastic prizes.
The Proprietors of the Bay Horse at Middridge (Mandy & John) have been very keen supporters of my plans, and offered their venue to hold the raffle. They are providing entertainment on the evening and give help with ideas in general. It is on Friday 7th February 2014 at The Bay Horse at 7pm. Everyone welcome.
