After listening to complaints from local residents about the increase in noise from shooting in the local area, I would like to put the record straight as the excessive noise is not from Yackley Gun Club which has operated out of Aycliffe Quarry for well over 30 years with no noise complaints.
They have approximately 10 guns shooting 50 cartridges each, every other weekend, which equates to approximately 500 shots
The increase in the noise is due to another shooting club who moved from the Dog Inn closer to Newton Aycliffe a number of months ago. They are a new gun club with around 40 to 50 members again shooting 50 cartridges each which equates to approximately 2500 shots. This is where the increase in noise has come from, and it is definitely not from Yackley Gun Club, who purposely keep their membership numbers relatively low to avoid causing excessive noise for local residents
