The Helping hands team had great joy in supporting over a 1000 people in the Newton Aycliffe area during the last 12 months that’s 100’s more than last year.
People ask how this is accomplished and it is mainly down to a small team of dedicated volunteers led by project leader Alwyn White and the generosity of our supporters.
Helping Hands has distributed goods to a value of £250,000 reaching those in the most need in our community. These goods are free allowing recipients to concentrate on tackling bills and feeding their families. We are blessed to see the changes that have taken place in so many lives.
Helping Hands, is a non-profit ministry serving low-income individuals and families in Newton Aycliffe. We help those in crisis reach self sufficiency by giving household goods to families who are struggling due to redundancy, broken relationships, benefit payment delays, debts, house repossessions and the consequences of the latest round of Welfare Reforms.
Alwyn says although we have done far better than expected there is so much more need in these turbulent times through a depressed economy, rising costs and increasing demands for our services.
Newton News readers can make a difference in the lives of those in need by financial and in-kind donations of food, clothes or other services. People need fridge freezers, washing machines and cookers.
If you need help we would love to reach out and offer emergency assistance, food and support. Please contact Alwyn on 0793 6431262. We will visit you in the privacy of your home. Every application is dealt with confidentially.
