The Financial Secretary to the Treasury, Victoria Atkins MP, visited Newton Aycliffe on 28th September accompanied by Paul Howell MP for Sedgefield. During the Financial Secretary’s visit Paul was delighted to see the announcement from Cash Access UK, the organisation set up to protect nationwide access to cash that, the new Banking Hub in Newton Aycliffe will be located at Unit B3, The Parade, previously a TSB bank branch.
The Hub, when it opens, will offer a counter service operated by the Post Office, where customers of all major banks and building societies can carry out regular cash transactions. It will also offer a Community Banker service where customers can talk to their own banking provider about more complicated issues, Monday to Friday, 9.00am – 5.00pm.
Community Bankers will work on rotation, with a different bank or building society available on each day of the week:

Tuesday:HSBC
Wednesday:Lloyds
Thursday:NatWest
Friday:Santander
Paul Howell, MP for Sedgefield, said: “This is great news for the residents of Newton Aycliffe, many of whom rely on access to these important banking services. I was delighted to engage with the delivery team from the day the closure was announced. For the residents of Newton Aycliffe this should prove to be a hugely positive step with different banks now delivering face to face services again. I look forward to seeing the positive impact the Hub will have and I am delighted that contracts are signed, and delivery is imminent.
