Dear Sir,
I would like to respond to the letter submitted by Vince Crosby in last week’s edition of the Newton News.
I do apologise . . .
I apologise for the 1000s of people that will commit suicide during this second lockdown, as well as the last;
I apologise to our elderly, who, if they had the choice, and free, I know they would rather risk any illness and be with their family in the last years of their life, rather than sit in a home without love or touch from family members. Or their favourite sweets being brought in from their grandchildren.
I apologise to the students barricaded in their accommodation like animals (I am so proud that they knocked them down).
I apologise to the people forcing masks over their children’s faces in fear, when top medical professionals are telling us it is unhealthy and can cause illness.
I apologise to all the people who won’t receive medical treatment for other illnesses, including cancer. People who can’t get dental treatment, men who can’t be with their partners while they give birth.
I apologise for what is going on in the world right now, but I will never apologise for the truth and what I believe in.
And, if you don’t like it, carry on living in a false truth, but I will not.
Irene Hewitson
