Youth workers at Newton Aycliffe Youth & Community Centre have secured funding to deliver free 1 hour CrossFit sessions every week to local 13-19 year olds.
The partnership with local family run gym “CrossFit All Out” has been building for over a year, so the recent confirmation of funding was very well received by both parties.
Vikki Anderson, Business Manager at CrossFit said “it’s been a long time since we first discussed offering sessions and we are so pleased that Litza and the Youth Workers saw the benefits of CrossFit for teens and pushed to get funding, so we are able to deliver free sessions in Aycliffe and show them that fitness can be fun and I hope many families take advantage of the sessions”. The sessions will be offered every Friday from 6.45pm with registration from 6.30pm, which anyone aged 13-19 can attend.
Terry Anderson, Head Coach at CrossFit All Out will lead the sessions and is looking forward to working with some new teens, “We’ve had our Academy sessions for 11-16 year olds 3 times a week for over a year now and have a core group of kids who’ve really committed themselves to improving each week, some are nearly at the stage of competing. I’m looking forward to delivering fun sessions for other teens in Aycliffe and getting young people active and enjoying sports, building confidence and social skills in the process.”
