Home and communities organisation, livin, is strengthening its already successful partnership with construction and development specialist Southdale to build new homes on four sites across South Durham.
Having completed eight two-bedroom homes in Baliol Road, Newton Aycliffe and six at Clarence Chare in the town, as part of its first contract for livin, Darlington-based Southdale has now started work on new developments, which have a combined contract value of more than £3m.
livin is working with Southdale to build 13 houses and two bungalows in Sycamore Road, Fishburn. Meanwhile, in Neile Road, Newton Aycliffe, a further three bungalows will be developed.
Nine two and three-bedroom houses will be built in Thirlmere Road, Ferryhill, while a further six are to be developed in Pease Way, Newton Aycliffe.
The contracts are part of livin’s £11.6m investment programme for new homes across the South Durham area and it expected that all homes will be available early 2013 and will be offered at an affordable rent.
Wayne Harris, executive director at livin, said: “Meeting housing demand for local communities is one of our main objectives and working with Southdale we can also help stimulate the local economy by providing employment and training opportunities locally.”
Trudie McCormick, Southdale’s North East regional director, said: “The homes we built in Baliol Road were our first for livin, so we are very pleased to continue our valued partnering relationship with livin on these four further contracts to help deliver their investment programme.
“We are looking forward to building upon our early work in South Durham and our growing relationship with livin.”
