Dear Editor,
With reference to ‘noise that annoys’ in 20th July edition of the Newton News I also like to enjoy ‘peace and quiet’ as many of us do.
But let’s remember we are in a close community of families where the majority are enjoying themselves. When I hear motor bikes I picture young people out there having a good time.
When loud music is played I think to myself someone out there is having a party enjoying the sun (what little we have of it). Yes, builders are noisy, but at least members of this community are spending their money locally, to improve the environment around them and the work does not go on forever.
I am a dog lover, and dogs, the same as people, like to hear their own voices, and the bulk of responsible dog owners only allow barking to go on for a short time, and do you know what? – at least those dogs are happy!
The emergency vehicles are there to help people in distress and some day the ‘Newtonian’ in our area will need them.
As for ‘ice cream vans’, well to be honest, their tune is quite pleasant and reminds me of my childhood when I would wait for the melody, knowing that a treat was instore.
Lastly the scrap man who is trying to survive like the rest of us, working hard and as a bonus removing unwanted rubbish that we all throw out from time to time.
So my answer to the ‘Newtonian’ is – Wake up! Get a Life!, if you are still not happy move somewhere else and leave the rest of us to enjoy our lives, after all, life is very short indeed and far too good to moan about.
Happy Camper, Aycliffe.
