A Newton Aycliffe resident is offering a new service, writing CVs and cover letters for job seekers. Kevin Stewart of Wakenshaw Drive, who has lived in Aycliffe for 37 years, has spent the last ten years working as a full-time freelance writer and editor, producing sports and entertainment articles for various major online and print publications worldwide. He now wants to add some variety to his daily writing duties.
Mr. Stewart previously worked as a consultant and executive headhunter in the recruitment industry. He says the knowledge he’s gained in both career chapters is ideal for his new side venture. He said, “I would sieve through dozens of CVs and cover letters every day when I worked in recruitment, so I know how good ones should look and what recruiters look for in them. Combining that know-how with my work as a professional writer means I’m well-positioned to write them for others.”
He continued, “Most people who are established in their careers already know how to prepare quality CVs and cover letters. Therefore, I’d like to focus on helping school-leavers, students, and those seeking employment for the first time through the job application process. A good CV and a well-written cover letter can be decisive factors when employers consider individuals for any given role. I’m looking forward to giving enthusiastic candidates the best chance possible at winning the positions they apply for.”
The service cost will depend on the specific details of individual cases, with Mr. Stewart offering CV tune-ups and CVs and cover letters written from scratch. He does, however, suggest the prices will be reasonable.
